About BQI

We are a diverse group with a wide variety of interests and welcome interested stitchers of all ages. Bungendore Quilters is made up of a diverse, eclectic group of quilters, embroiderers, sewers — in fact anyone who enjoys textile arts is welcome to join. We have General Meetings and Sew & Chat days and dates for our get-togethers can be found on our meetings page.

Bungendore Quilters meet regularly at our Sew & Chat sessions where we discuss current projects and offer assistance to others who are learning new techniques. Members regularly share their work with each other to show a work in progress or a completed item. We run patchwork and quilting classes for members, and hold two retreats each year: a weekend full of sewing.

Our main event for the year is our annual quilt exhibition which is always held over the fourth weekend in November. This coincides with our annual raffle to raise funds for the quilt event and gift quilts, which our members undertake during the year.

Many of our members are award winners for their textiles based work and are very experienced in many creative arts skills.

But we do more than just patchwork and quilting. Many of our members practise other textiles-based arts and crafts, and bring these along to our sewing days. Other activities include embroidery, crochet, knitting, cross-stitch, beadwork, embellishing textiles, creation of textiles art works, felting, spinning, sashimi, shibori, dying (including using natural dyes), weaving, making jewellery, punch needle embroidery, and sewing clothing or costumes.

Come along to one of our meetings and consider joining us.
