FROM SMALL BEGINNINGS ...

We have had many friends over the years help us with our exhibition and we have grown considerably since the first quilt show in 2006. Before Bungendore Quilters came into existence, Sheryl-Ann and Roy Schaefer thought that Bungendore needed an annual quilt show - and we did (we just didn't know it back then!). Sheryl-Ann and Roy did the first two exhibitions in 2006 and 2007 on their own.

In 2008, Bungendore Quilters Inc was established and the organisation of the annual exhibition passed to the group and an Exhibition Committee was established. Over the years different members have come forward to help with the organisation and set-up of the show but all members are involved in some way or another which embodies a wonderful community spirit.

We would like to thank Robyne d'Argeavel for her extraordinary assistance in hanging our exhibtions each year during our early years. Robyne's knowledge of colour and display are second to none. We would also like to make particular mention of and thank Stan d'Argeavel who assisted our organisation with professional work in design, layout, printing, collating and advice for our many projects including our annual exhibition, display stands, raffle, promotional signage, etc. during our early years. We very much appreciate his 'behind the scenes' assistance.

2019 marked the 14th Annual Member's Exhibition and we are going from strength to strength. Our exhibition draws crowds of over six hundred and fifty people over the weekend and they come from all over NSW, Australia and quite a number from overseas come in during their stay with family and friends in Bungendore and region. The BQI Annual Exhibition is now one of Bungendore's main visitor attractions each year.

The photo above shows the beginning of the set-up of the annual quilt exhibition. We have an army of wonderful people (husbands, partners, children) who come and bring in all the gear from storage and set up the stands for us. We are then ready on Thursday to start hanging the quilts.
